Has anyone installed a different radio(12V) in the HJ, using just the chrome mounting bracket/ faceplate.

It looks like no one has replaced their radio using the stock mount !!!

didn't do the swap as I ended getting a radio from Fid, but the hole for the radio face plate is smaller than most more modern radios/decks, I don't know why with careful trimming it couldn't be done, as long as the new unit fit under the dash.

I had the original radio redone with modern electronics----250 watt, 5 channel am/fm with aux input that I use for an xm radio input.
System includes converter from 6v pos ground to 12v neg ground to supply the radio.
I used the original faceplate.
One cannot tell that it is not original.
It drives two speaker systems in the rear seat area.
I'm now jamming to rock and roll on my drives.
