Air Conditioning for a 1953 Kaiser
« on: June 16, 2017, 05:36:33 PM »
Hi Guys....

I want to install A/C in my '53 Kaiser which has its original drivetrain and battery voltage (6 volt).  I called Classic Auto Air who works on vintage a/c systems - here's their contact info:

https://www.classicautoair.com/

Nice folks but they say they do not have a solution for 6 volt cars.  I have to upgrade to 12 volt.

Is there still a 6 volt solution out there for A/C that is not a swamp cooler that hangs on the window?  If not, I'll leave all the way it is.

Thanks for any info you can share.

Best....

Geoff

I have a solution. You need to find a dual output battery. 6v output and a 12v output. You can figure the rest from here. They are available

I have a Bon-Aire automotive swamp cooler from the 60s that sits on the hump in the front. You put water and ice in it and it pumps water over the mesh on the sides while a blower blows air thru the screens. It is 12 volt so I have a 12v battery behind the front seat to run it and my stereo.
