Henry J serial number
« on: May 08, 2018, 05:18:28 PM »
I was wondering if someone knows what some numbers on the build plate mean on my 1953 henry j. The trim is 5501, the I.P. is 34, the D.R. is 1, T.R. is 2, A.G. is 36, and schedule is 94 and item no. is 160. If someone could tell me what these mean I would greatly appreciate it.

Here's the breakdown:
Trim - 5501 = Copperweave plastistrand seat and door panel material
IP (Interior Paint) - Australian Beige
DR (Delivery Region) - 1 = United States
TR (Transmission) - 2 = Three speed
AG (Accessory Group) - 36 = Stationary rear seat, deck lid, ash receiver, front wing vents, front cigar lighter, tilt type rear view mirror

Schedule and Item pertain to when the car was assembled. For this car, it was the 160th car on the production schedule and it was built on the 94th day of production.

All this information and much more on a 1953 HJ can be found within KFOCI HANDBOOK Version 5.0.  This information packed CD is a perk for all actual members of the KFOCI and goes out to you with your New Member Packet at the time you joined.  You are a member of the KFOCI, Arent't you?  Being a member of the FORUM is NOT the same thing as being a member of the KFOCI.

Thank you very much for the info, my only question is what would be australian beige inside as I thought all Henry J's were painted the same color on the inside as on the outside and the original color of the car is cerulean.

For the discussion, please indicate the paint code # amd the IP # on the body tag for your particular HJ.  I find that #5501 trim is correct for LATER PRODUCTION 1953 HJ 4-cylinder Corsairs (availabilities for May 1953 & later) only.

The paint code is 398 which looks to be cerulean and the I.P. is 34.
