Hood bolts
« on: June 01, 2018, 08:29:34 PM »
While driving, one of my hood bolts came out. Now I have to use a board to hold up the hood. This is in a 53 Manhattan. Are these just regular bolts? If so, what size and does it need a nut? Are they special type. If so does anyone have one? Hope the photos help. The bolt is from the bottom of the back rod going into the side of the cowl body.

I think you lost a rivet, not a bolt. Look at the hinge on the other side and see if it is a bolt or a rivet. If it is a rivet, you can patch it back together with a bolt and a self locking nut. Be careful not to over tighten the nut if you patch it back together with a bolt and nut.
