Old Time Pics from 1950
« on: August 22, 2018, 11:45:25 AM »
In doing some research for some family photos, I happened across this picture which was from the Pittsburgh, PA paper reporting on the "1950 Thanksgiving Blizzard."  Looks like some men are pushing someone's new 1951 Kaiser through the snow on Thanksgiving 1950:

And another taken the same day shows men digging another car out and the one in front of them is a '47 / '48 K.

Great photos, thanks for posting!

The upper pic is an interesting reminder of just how little snow it took to be a problem for those skinny bias tires. Brings back memories of stopping and wondering if I could get going again. Snow like that isn't even a concern these days.

Lower photo is also a good one. Looks to me like the neighborhood women & kids are digging out the whole parking lane, probably because the men have found some way to get to work. How times have changed.
