Barbara came up with the design concept of making this "sandwich board" using 2ea. 2 x 3 foot wood poster frame units; they are hinged at the top so it can be folded together to make transportation easier. We use it to help explain the story of the Henry J while it was in production. Anyone can make one for themselves. We took originals to an Office Max Copy Center, showed them the Copyright Office information to show we could make copies of this copyrighted material so "no original documents or materials were harmed in the production of the finished product".
Yes, these days, anyone taking a K-F product to a general old car show will get a lot of people stopping and asking questions. Yes, some of these curious folks can turn out to be serious prospective car owners and new members. Show folks that these cars are still around, you can get parts easier (and for less $$$) than for a lot of the more popular makes of the period and that the KFOCI provides an excellent support system if people need help.
As for the work in process cars, you can either take pictures of the car(s) as the project(s) move towards completion. This further supports the idea that these vehicles may not be money pits that lead up a dead end street.
If 150 members take their cars out to their respective area old car shows (so what if you are the only K-F product at one of these) over the course of the summer, you may be able to land 1 or 2 new members. If that turns out to be an average (some bring in more members, others perhaps none at all) that means at least 150 new members a year from a source that otherwise might not be available.
What do people think?
