Bobby Darin
« on: November 07, 2018, 06:15:25 PM »
While reading about the Darrin car in an old English magazine the article mentioned that the Darrin name was influential in Bobby Darin choosing his stage name.  Does anyone know any more about that happening?  Bobby would  have been about eighteen when the Darrin car came out. His real name was Robert Walden Cassato and other sources say that his name was chosen from a street sign and randomly out of a phone book.

I've read it was about the actor James Darren.  He supposedly changed his name in honor of the car. Of course, he changed the spelling Darren (from Darrin).

Google confirms that James Darren took the name in 1959 and it was from the "famous car"  Apparently the English magazine got things a little confused.  This is just a little more Darrin trivia.
