Kaiser Hydromatic transmissions
« on: December 09, 2018, 04:44:59 PM »
Sometime ago thee was listed in the monthly bulletins that some one had kits for sale for  the Hydromatic transmissions.  I went thru my bulletins back thru 2016 but din't see any listing. I'm wondering what was in those kits.   We have a 54 K with the Hydro .  Took it to the shop & they said it was burned up.  What they had to put in it is any ones guess but after we drove it we had to take it back & that's where it is today. Can any one be of help on this subject?  Thanks...

The shop needs the Hydramatic Shop manual with the proper supplements. Kaiser printed these for their dealers. They can be found on ebay or from club members.

Hi, we have a few rebuilding kits available for the hydramatics ($300.00 plus shipping) and we have some other internal parts, including driven/driving torus (new).  The rebuild kit includes MOST seals, gaskets, and all the needed drive and driven clutch plates (these clutch plates are probably what the rebuilder was referring to as burned).  We have successfully had a K53 model transmission rebuilt and just this past year had a model K54 rebuilt.  That's why I said "MOST" in the previous sentence.  There was a seal that had changed from the 51-53 models that was different from the 54 model but we worked it out. My email address is ldladykf@yahoo.com for this conversation (I use another one for other KF stuff) or call 802-247-3337, Charlotte and Bob Dayton, Vermont.

Thanks Charlotte & Bob for the info on the Hydramatic kits.  Being the car is now in the shop I'll have to leave it to them to find the right kit.  R the kits NOS or R they just plain old.  If they call us and say they can't find a kit I'll get back to u, ok?  Thanks for u're help. Richard

They are not dated for date of manufacture, but they are not in KF boxes.   We have used them in two successful rebuilds here, one is a model K53 and one is in model K54.  We also have some other parts for the 53/54 hydramatics.  Note - the rear band on our K54 was different from the 52/53 rear bands we have in stock.  It had to be sent out to be relined.  Chris Luecnt (moderator) might have some of the 54's in stock as Walkers KF parts had a lot of transmission parts. Ist let mr correct the spelling to "hydrAmatic".  Then Bob & Char I/we will call the shop maybe Monday or Tuesday and see if they have everything they need to get this car back on the road...It's been there a week now and no words from the.  So we'll have top just wait and see.
