Master cylinder mount

 Attached are a couple of photos of the master cylinder bracket and the lever arm that I took off my Darrin. A question for you guys that actually know what the original ones look like. Is this custom-made to fit my V-8 application.  The welding looks terrible. I’m guessing it’s something somebody cobbled together. The bracket was welded to a cross member that was itself welded (poorly) to the frame.

Here's the mount on car #183. My car does not have the smaller plate but the rest of what you have resembles what's in my car, including the marginal welding job. My bracket is bolted to the crossmember and not welded to it. You can see the bolt in the second photo.

Running changes to most everything on the Darrin were common so the extra plate on your bracket might be correct. Hopefully someone with a later car can confirm.

It appears that the rear of your bracket is mounted on a rod. I’m thinking that’s the bolt you mentioned.  I am leaning toward manufacturing an angle bracket to mount on the crossmember. That would certainly facilitate easier maintenance on the master cylinder. Thank you for the photos. They really helped clarify things for me. Steve Darrin #3

The rear of the bracket is not mounted on the rod. That rod is the clutch shaft...the bracket ends just before it. The bolt that holds the bracket in place can be seen under the threaded end of the brake pedal adjusting rod.

Oh, the clutch rod. That makes sense. My entire cluth assy went away sometime in the 50’s when the Olds drivetrain including a Hydra-Matic was shoehorned in the car. My bracket modification is complete. Waiting for paint to dri. In the mean time I am inspecting all the brake lines and replacing as needed. Thanks, Steve
