Removing (and reinstalling) Chrome Scripts
« on: September 24, 2019, 10:52:21 PM »
I have been trying to figure out how to safely remove "Kaiser" and "Manhattan" scripts from my 1954, so that new paint can be applied. I can't figure out how to access the "backside" where there are (probably) clips holding the scripts in place. Has anyone successfully removed these by gently prying them off from the outside? Or has anyone put them back on with an adhesive?

The scripts are held on by small cone shaped clips and trying to get to them from the back side will not help.  The best way is to slowly pry the scripts with a very thin flat head screw driver first a little at one end of a script and then the other end.  Use a piece of tissue or cloth to protect the paint on the fender.  Sometimes the clip comes out with the post of the script and sometimes it must be removed after the post of the script is out.

To re-install the script you place the cone shaped clip on the scripts post and gently tap it back into the drilled hole on the fender.  Again, you work a little bit on each end of the script so it is installed evenly or it will bend/snap.
