Power Steering Qustion

 I have an opportunity to get a power steering system off of a car that is being scrapped out.

 What are the parts that need to be removed that are unique to the power steering cars.

Pump
Fan pulley
Crankshaft Pulley
Belts
Hoses
Brackets
Hydraulic assist cylinder

What other unique parts might be removed?

There is a bracket attached to the frame that’s often overlooked. Make sure it’s included. I believe the tie rods and ends differ for power steering equipped cars so you’ll probably need them as well.

Here are the items you'll want to pull from the donor car:
Power link (called the ram)
Tie rods from both sides as well as the ends
Steering arms (attaches from spindle to the tie rod ends)
Pitman arm
Pump
Pulleys from the water pump and crankshaft
Spacers between the radiator and cradle - the radiator has to be moved forward about 5/8"
Frame mounted bracket that holds the passenger side of the power link in place

You may have to modify the exhaust pipe as well.

I have put two power steering units on in the past and never moved the radiator. The exhaust pipe is the same. I had new hoses made from hydraulic hoses. You may need to add washers behind the pump bracket to make it line up. The generator strap is the most difficult to reinstall.
