1949 Kaiser Projects Cllock
« on: April 28, 2020, 07:41:31 PM »
Someone gave me a clock a few years back. I was thrilled to get it but never installed it as I knew it was meant for 6 volts and I converted to 12 long ago. I hooked a resistor to the clock but it would not run. Someone suggested Clockworks.com.

I contacted them and for $40 they would convert it to a quartz movement or for $140 they would rework it and convert it to 12 volts. A quartz is more accurate and since I don’t have a second hand it would be hard to detect. Still I hated to do away with the mechanics of the clock. Well ends up a quartz movement wasn’t available anyway so I stuck with the rebuild.

Got it back today and am hooking it up now. I did not have the bulb holders that go in it so I had to find some. I’ve got the wires ran but the studs on the back of the dash were not long enough so I’ll have to get some tomorrow and finish the installation.

I love the old car. It’s so classy looking and rides like a dream. A buddy had a 49 Cadillac and the interior wasn’t near as nice as my Kaiser
