Kaiserfrazerlibrary, Thanks for the documents. I downloaded them. I was told i would get a CD of information from KFOCI but they are currently out. I can order items 1 and 2 in your post from KFOCI then?

The compression in most cylinders in my engine was 110 PSI, one was at 100, one at 80...so I believe 110 to be likely appropriate. 

You will eventually get the cd from kfoci, but there are copies of the shop manual available on Ebay though some of them are reproductions, not original (check feedback as some buyers were not happy to have gotten repros...that's the only way I know of to determine original or repro).  Also, you can try Larry Barker in AZ (480-843-8110) as that is where I got a copy of each...he may still have others.  Larry also has tons of parts for these cars, so definitely keep his number on file as you start going through your car to get it up to snuff.

To answer things:

If the lever is missing (reference picture previously posted by FID) check the TR header on your car's Body Information plate (located on firewall).  If it says 2 under neath it your car does not have overdrive.  If it has a 4 or 6 at the TR header, your car was originally equipped with overdrive. 

Club Management decided that KFOCI HANDBOOK will not be released anymore on a CD.  The next scheduled release is Version 6.0 and it will be put on on the KFOCI Website but coded so only members will have access.  The Handbook will appear on the new website when that gets up and running.  The size of the Handbook is 823 MB so it cannot be sent via e-mail.

The club sells NO publications to either members or non-members.  Members looking for the manuals can post a free WANTED ad in KFOCI MONTHLY BULLETIN and that usually gets you a response. The Manufacturing Fund does not deal in reprinted manuals or originals at this time.  I have attached the file for reading the body infortmation tag (larger tag on firewall) and reading the door post serial number tags.  On your car subtract 1000 from the number on the serial number tag to get actual number of cars (or bodies) built at the time your car started down the assembly line (or body fabrication line for the 2-door sedan in case of the smaller body serial number tag below the body information tag) on the firewall.
