Hi
My " Tip of The Day " is how to keep those worn door handles on 51 thru 55 from chipping the paint on the doors when released .  When the mechanism wears it lets the end of the handle hit the paint when you let go of the handle quickly . This can be done with the handle on or off the car but it takes two folks or a good way to hold the handle in the open position if on the car . If the handle is off the car , seperate the handle from the escutcheon .
On the area where the handle contacts the escutcheon , use contact cement to glue a very small piece of rubber , like inner tube , to the escutcheon . I use Firestone EPDM rubber roofing material just because i have some around my shop , but any similar thickness material will do . It can't be seen and will keep the handle from hitting the paint when the handle is released . I hope someone can get some benefit from this tip .

Mine do that--this will be really handy when I repaint--but that won't be for a while.  Thanks for the good tip!
