51 Jeepster for sale
« on: October 27, 2010, 10:23:24 AM »
After alot of thought, I have decided to part company with my 51 Jeepster. I've owned this car for several years and have had my fun with it. It's now time to pass it along to someone else.
I bought it and an early 48 from a fellow in West Virginia who had both in storage since 1960. I've done the following to this one: new brakes (lines, hoses, wheel and master cylinders, hardware, etc), new gasket set in the engine, new water and fuel pumps, new fuel and oil lines, new carburetor, new voltage regulator and battery. I also installed 4 brand new Firestone 6.70x15 tires ($700 alone) and well as an NOS spare tire. I've also replaced some chrome and located other that was missing. Brand new gas tank and sun visors just installed.
The Jeepster runs and drives but needs minor tinkering here and there..but is roadworthy as is.
It needs some bodywork as the floors were patched. It also needs some interior work. The top is worn and the rear seat upper cushion is missing. I know a fellow in eastern PA who can supply the seat. I have rear side curtains but no front curtains.
This is a good, driver quality Jeepster that can be enjoyed as-is with just a little elbow grease. I have the title.
I am asking $4500 for the Jeepster and am fairly firm at that price. Find one this nice on ebay and you'll pay more. I'm offering it here first and then it'll go to ebay in the spring if not sold. (Pics show the spare as missing, I have a complete unit, I also have front bumper guard assembly, included with car).

JIm,  is this a 4 or a 6?  I presume it is the F-head engine with overdrive?

Thanks

I recently saw a 1951 Jeepster at a car show in South Carolina and feel in love with the thing. I started researching and educating myself on the differences in the 48-51 models. I've convinced myself I got to have a 50-51 Jeepster . I saw your post.
If you still have the Jeepster please let me know.
Or if you know of a 50-51 jeepster for sale please past my on my information.

jim

I mentioned jeepsters to one of the technicians here at the Ford plant today.    He is checking with his wife; he may be interested as well.

I do still have the Jeepster, only because this has been the only place I've advertised it. I had it running and driving last weekend when we had the warm weather. I had almost convinced myself to keep it but another car's caught my eye so I guess I'll leave this one up for sale for a bit longer.
I did find a few more bits and pieces for it that I will include...brand new tail light assemblies and few small trim pieces.
