The 1948 model year cars didn't have factory authorized skirts available. They appeard in 1949 and can be retrofit on the 48's since it's the same body shell. Kaiser skirts, when you can find them, aren't cheap...nice ones can bring several hundred dollars a pair. There may be an aftermarket...Foxcraft or similar...skirt that was available, but I am not aware of any.

Aftermarket skirts were available from a few sources in the 1940's.  I have a copy of an ad from a manufacturer in Los Angeles that made the skirts and the ad was aimed at K-F dealers.  I found a set for my '48 Kaiser, '54 Willys Aero and '58 Metropolitan all from eBay so they do turn up occasionally.  Expect to pay from $200 to $400 for nice ones.  1949 skirts are much more expensive.

You've given me an idea for a new gallery item in the next release of the handbook...a collection of aftermarket product broadsides covering different hood ornaments, chrome trim and fender skirts for 1947-48 Kaiser and Frazer automobiles.  The info would include the maker/marketer of the items as a point of reference.  I have a group of this type material that came from an old K-F dealership in Illinois.

That would be a GREAT addition to the handbook, and very helpful.  I have a general idea of some of the aftermarket products, but to have them listed in a concise format would be wonderful.

I collect aftermarket hood ornaments and misc. K-F accessories.  It would be great to be able to verify some of the unidentified items.  We'll all look forward to viewing the material that you have.  Thanks for sharing!!
