Moulding Clips
« on: January 29, 2011, 08:14:51 PM »
Need door moulding, rear window, and rocker panel moulding clips but so far several places checked have come up with nothing that will work. Suggestions of where to find moulding clips?  Tried Restoration Specialties and they don't appear to carry what I need.

Hi, I have some of the spring clips I bought but were wrong for my car. These are the wire type like those around the rear window strip. The size is about 1" across the head and I need 3/4". Should have 24 of them.

This is completely new to me, but once I get my head around the many new terms, I find its illuminating things I've previously half-thought.

The spam never stops.  Here are the part numbers for the moulding clips I have extra. 202018 26 each & 202029 4 each.  Don't know if numbers are correct & 100224 is on the one box also.

I could not find 202018 in either my '49 oi '51 parts books.  However, as it turns out the Molding clips I pulled off this '51 Frazer hardtop rocker panels had a number 201 on the backside and it matches exactly a sample Restoration Specialities sent me. As for the outside door mouldings, I believe I found a macth with a 1946-48 Chrysler hood side panel moulding.
I would have preferred to go with "simple" push-in rocker panel moulding since the panels were replaced and last time I looked I did not have a drill bit that drills a square hole like on the original rockers and like the clips are made for; however I have a round drill bit and know how to use set screws. Some of this stuff you get into one must just ponder...why...why was it done that way.  And we will eliminate the inside door mouldings studs/nuts since there is no reason to do it that way and no access anyway unless you pull all the door insides off.
