Spark plugs

What is the available plug today for the 51-53 Kaiser 226 engines? I do not mean for showing
purposes, but if a plug should fail and a trip was needed to a local auto parts store to put the
car in running condition right away.

Thanks KFNUT.  I forgot to ask what would be the plug electrode gap?

The gap is .032

during the 1951 model year and continuing into 1955, the 226 came with Auto-Lite A7 plugs.  A-5 plugs were put in all earlier cars and was the factory suggested alternative for cars having heating/vapor lock problems if they had A-7 in them.  There is a slight drop in mileage but the car runs a bit cooler (A-7 is higher heat range).

As an alternative on the road, you can use the J8C (which might have an issue depending on length of plug wiring), an AC 44 or AC 45, Auto lite AR51or A82. 

Plug type is 14mm with a heat range at or just a blt below the J8C.

Thanks Joe and KFlibrary. As a new member10323, I will probably have lots of questions. My first
car in 1960 (at age 16) was a 1951 Kaiser 4 door Deluxe with 3 speed and OD. I was a member of KFOC back then. In 1972 with 4 kids and a wife, I had no money to spare and my biggest mistake was selling my '54 Darrin (with a new spare windshield) for $1100). I just bought a 1951 Kaiser 4 door Deluxe 3 speed with OD from Steve Turner in Battle Creek Michigan. I am in Illinois and have now come full circle! My dad drove Kaisers and Frazers for 16 years and had a big garage attic full
of parts he gave away in the early 70's. I guess we all have those horror stories to tell.
