51 kaiser gas guage
« on: January 07, 2009, 10:44:27 AM »
I need to access my gas guage sending unit and it seems as if I would have to drop the tank in or to do that. I'm not above cutting a hole in the trunk floor if anyone has measurements for where I should start.
Advice please

I had a '53 Manhattan that needed the sending unit worked on too.  I debated cutting a hole just as you're contemplating but finally dropped the tank instead.  As I recall, it really wasn't a difficult job as the bolts were easy to reach.  I doubt it would take much longer than chopping a hole in the trunk and then repairing it.  Actually, draining the tank was the worst part.
