We recently received our copy of the NAPA-based interchange list created by Richard Hansen. I am impressed.  It’s clear a lot of effort went into putting this list together.  Kaiser-Frazer products were designed as “assembled” cars with parts taken from standard supplier catalogs whenever possible & this book can be a great help, especially if a problem develops on the road.

It is good to hear that members are still compiling interchange lists. I made my effort back in the Handbook Revision of 1992.  It does a lot for new members to know that mechanical parts for their orphan car aren't so far away.

I know...Barbara and I did an interchange manual (well over 100 pages) back in the 1990's when you found a lot of Willys and Jeep-branded mechanical parts at swap meets along with lots of old OEM stuff that the vendors selling it didn't know much about.   We're mulling over re-producing it and updating it with the latest parts catalogs (NON NAPA) that we've picked over the last 10 or so years.

Interchange lists have a shelf life.  The numbers for currently readily available parts is dwindling; places where you can just walk into are getting fewer and fewer in some parts of the country.  In my own case with the 100+ page item I did it was designed for those going to swap meets where you might find Willys Motors or Willys-Overland parts (perhaps even some K-F stuff) and a seller who had no parts interchange books that would foot back to K-F numbers.  Same for the various aftermarket and OEM brands and their numbers cross-referencing to K-F needs.

I updated the Oil filter and spark plug information for the Interchange Section of KFOCI HANDBOOK on a CD but that's as far as I wanted to go.  I had 20 copies of the book (it was bound) and it took over 8 years to sell the 18 copies sold at a price that reflected printing and binding costs.  Many people in the club were interested in it but didn't want to pay actual production cost.

Bustidwing… Buying a copy of someone's work does not entitle you to distribute their work, How can he sell the rest if you are giving away his work free?

I agree with Corsair Deluxe.  Giving away anything that someone worked hart to prepare takes away the incentive to prepare updates, revisions, etc.
