New way to make anything, like a 51 Frazer, or 54 lower taillight lens?

This is simply amazing!  Now, done in a clear resin with a red tint, it could make an identical copy of an original to within microns (much less than the thickness of a human hair)

With an almost exact replica, then a mold could be created, that would be identical to making the original parts, couldn't it?

Who takes the legal responsibility for the taillight meeting visibility standards?  The resin maker?  The maker of the taillight?  If you go with something like this using resin instead of standard plastics material be sure to tell your insurance company you did and see if they still want to carry you.

The light may not be bright enough to be legal.

If you're worried about your taillamps not being bright enough, replace them with LED units. Yes they are much brighter and yes they are available in 6 volt. Then you can tell your insurance company that you made your car safer and they might lower the rates!!

My comment was not intended to mean making the lens itself using the 3D printer, but to create a mold or a durable replica (if the original lens is too fragile) to make the mold to make the lens.

I think I prefer the Alumilite process, in spite of all the hand work. Is this how the reproduction 51 Frazer lens were made, this or a similar process ie by hand?
