1953 "Manhattam" on ebay

I always liked this color combination.

What I don't get is why list a car for sale on the internet and not say where the hell it is? Or give some more details. That always makes me suspicious.  This one does look nice though. I hope it's not too close to me because then I might want it.

The Texas plate on the car means it's probably located there. Of course, Texas is a big state! And, lucky for the both of us...it's too far away to think about owning.

Still, despite minimal information this appears to be a very nice 53 Manhattan.  So for me I always wonder, is this seller a KFOCI member?  If he is, then this car should be offered 1st to the membership formally or informally.  25 years ago I suspect the word would have got out among members that this car was for sale.  If he is not, I have to wonder how folks like this collect cars like this and do not join the marque club!  Makes me wonder how many similar cars are out there.  Club membership is not for everyone I understand, but for the "oddball" stuff like Independents usually see folks wanting to associate with other like minded folks.

I'll say it, may not be politically correct, but if he is a member shame on him for not offering it up to the membership before trying evilbay.  evilbay is usually strictly about cash.

Good point about offering the car thru club channels. I've been a member since 1964 and I recall many times that the phone rang and dad took yet another call about a local Kaiser for sale. We were all over town looking at cars that members wanted to offer the locals before advertising to the "out of towners". Many a Kaiser found a home in our driveway that way!

Looks like it sold for $18,500. A fine looking car that's for sure.

$18,500 is strong money for a 53 KF Manhattan. I was surprised. I don't see many KF cars go over $10,000 except Darrins. This bodes well for KF collectors.

I must admit, looking at those photos was like eye candy. It was a pleasure-a very nice car. We can only hope that the new owner is a KFOCI member or a future one.

It is my understanding that Bruce Barnett of Scottsdale, Az. bought this car. Larry Barker knows the car and says it is almost like new.
