VIRGINIAN REGISTRY INQUIRY

I was wondering if anyone is maintaining a 49-50 Virginian Registry?  I see some on ebay, different ones at the Nationals, have received some emails direct. With only 935 made, it should be fairly easy to keep a Registry.

I believe there is a Darrin Registry, correct?  Is this just an independent database kept by an interested party or officially club sanctioned?

The corrrect count for Virginians produced (all 1949 and the 1 1950 built during the 1950 model year period) is 980 cars; the 935 was based on the highest known body number when LAST ONSLAUGHT went to print back in 1975.

The higher number is from Kaiser-Frazer Corporation's Operating Reports and is a factory figure. 

The info is part of the item in KFOCI HANDBOOK Version 4.0 with month-by-month production counts already part of the first update--Version 5.0--whenever that gets released.

If you have an interest in tracking these cars, by all means, do it! I started the Willys Aero registry in 1981 because I like these cars. Later on I discovered that the Lew Retzer and the late Bill Raub were tracking them as well, so we combined info. Andy Shroyer started the Darrin registry back in the 1960's because he liked them. Dave Antram took over after Andy died and now Terry Tresatti took over from Dave Antram. Richard Langworth used to keep track of anything KF and Harold Hagen has taken that over. It seems like Gerry Bonham has an interest in Dragons and maybe he'll start keeping track of them.

All you have to do is let it be known that you'd like to do this. Then start following up on every Virginian you find. Wherever you see one for sale, contact the seller. Make note of club members cars. Put an ad in the club newsbulletin. I have a website at Hemmings website (address below) that I started a number of years ago and people send registrations to me with all the info I request (like all the numbers on the different tags, optional equipment, past owners, etc.).

I would like to see someone start tracking each type of KF product. There are so many registries in the Hudson Club, I think we could do something like that, too. Anyone want to do Travelers? Or Allstates?

Note: This would be the list of Vehicles that was in the Club at one Time.  If You find one on the list & was in the club = good. If You find a new one that is not on the list, this would be one more found =Great. Both a Win Win situation for the K.F.Club.
The Vehicle's sometimes move as much as People. Sometimes get lost if New Owner is not in the Club. This is another reason to get New People to join the Club.

The Dragon list had as many as 77 in late 1979. We Now have as You can see 172. It was started by Tom Behnke, & Richard Langworh ( Last Onslaught ) looking for Dragons.

It should be noted that the Harold Haugen registry contains one questionable condition.  When the thing was started, there was no line item or marker to identify condition or condition related information.  As a result the cars listed could range in condition from 100+point concourse to crushed out long ago.  The information in many cases is also incomplete.   That being said, the information still gives people what details as listed about cars found over the years.

This is true. On the Dragon List TBR = Tom Behnke Registry. Many think it was To be Restored.
I was thinking one Time K.F. Club had a condition on a form. But never have found one on a Registry list. I know some say salvage. This helps knowing someone logged it, but sad that may never be restored & crushed.

OK, so I checked out the Registry provided and the comments. The Registry is basic to me and what I had in mind would be a lot more information.  980 cars is a reasonable number to follow. (Obviously, there are a lot less out there now)

I'll work on the idea this weekend.

Thanks for considering to do this.  We all learn a lot about the different cars by having information on many of them and it is interesting to see when the running changes in the car happened.
