automatic transmission rebuild
«

I have a 1954 Manhattan with original automatic transmission that i will need to have rebuilt. Took off the pan and lots of crud and silver looking powder. Someone has had this apart before. Took the valve body apart and there was a spring missing. Anyone know of a parts source for this procedure. Will obviously need an overhaul kit and who knows what else. Thank you for any information.

David Edwards, member#4594 of Needham MA used to be a regular advertiser in the Bulletin a few years ago and he had parts and repair kits for our Hydramatic transmissions. Try him at 781 449 2065 or
www.autotran.us
. I bought a gasket set for my Willys Aero and was very pleased with the parts and service.

Northwest Transmission also carries quite a bit for the KF hydramatic.

I used Fatsco to source parts for my Borg-Warner automatic, and got very good service and parts from them. They have parts for almost all vintage automatics, so I'm sure they have what you would need for the Hydramatic.
