Master Cylinder Remote Reservoir
« on: August 10, 2013, 02:31:54 PM »
I bought a kit from Summit for remote reservoir.  I drilled the Master cylinder and installed a barb, rather thsn going through cap.  I have it all in the car but have not put fluid in yet as I am going adjust and inspect all brakes first.
Questions
The vented cap on the master cylinder. Do I need to plug the vent hole?
I assume I will fill the master cylinder. Then fill the reservoir.  How do I avoid air bubble in the hose or in master cylinder.  Is there a process filling it the first time to avoid air bubbles?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Plug the hole. It needs to well done or you will have a constatnt leak. Fill the reservoir and keep it filled while you pump away with one of the wheel cylinders bleeding into a tube with the end of the tube submersed(so it will not suck air) in the fluid in a bottle. Keep pumping untill the bubbles dissapear.I can not say that the M.C. will be full, but I did the following and it worked for me.
It goes without saying that the M.C. cap must be tight.

There is no concern about an air bubble in the master, as over time the fluid from the fill bottle will displace the air. When the master is filled without the remote fill system, there is always an air space. Henry.
