1948 engine paint
« on: July 11, 2013, 09:56:39 PM »
Does any vendor sell the medium grey paint used on the 1948 Kaiser engines? Hirsch and Eastwood don't list any.
How close is Chevrolet engine grey used in the early 50's?

I used Rustoleum's Painter's Touch Dark Gray (number 1986) and it's a very close match. It's not a high heat paint but on my 50K and 51 Jeepster, it has not peeled or burned off. I did not paint the exhaust manifold but did do the intake and it's held up well.

The photo shows the same paint on my 51 Jeepster engine.
