UK Based Kaiser Manhattan 1952
« on: August 17, 2013, 02:09:46 AM »
Dear Forum, I am a UK based classic car fan, and I recently purchased a beautiful 1952 Kaiser Manhattan in need or restoration. I have no experience of American cars before, but the opportunity to purchase this one was too good to miss.

My car still bears the US registration plate of 515 YUR, and it seems it spent most of it's life in Nevada, before being exported to UK by an active serviceman. It is structurally sound but needs paint, interior and TLC.

I am starting to research the car and Kaiser history, and my aim is to restore the car as authentically as possible, but I want to end up with a street car that I can use every weekend - and not just a show car.

I am searching for International, European or UK based Kaiser fans that can share their experience of restoration with me, and help me source some of the parts I will need. Regards Mike - new proud owner of a car marginally older than me.

Congratulations on your purchase! 1952 was the first year the Manhattan name appeared on a Kaiser, the name having been previously used on the Frazer, which discontinued production after the 1951 model year.

You will want to join the Kaiser Frazer Owners Club. Our monthly bulletin, which you can receive electronically via email, is an excellent source for parts and other information about your car.

Mike, congrats on the car...that certainly is an attactive model!  The club as our President mentions is great.  I've been a member for 31 years and have previously owned a 53 Kaiser Manhattan 4 dr and a 55 Kaiser Manhattan 2 door (production 44).  I currently own a 54 Manhattan 4 door, Signal Green Metallic over Jade Tint.

I also sell KF Parts & Literature as a hobby and have an internet web site.  If I can help, please let me know.

Again, congrats on the new car!!!

If UK is overseas for us in USA, what is considered overseas in the UK?

Sorry for my overseas remark.

I am working in North Africa, but should be back in cold old England in early September.
