Trying to determine fabric yardage needed, etc.
« on: December 08, 2013, 07:02:41 AM »
Hi Folks!

I want to do the seats on my 47 Special and need to determine the amount to buy. Also, what have people done for door panels in terms of material and the backing board?

Thanks, Bish

I have a 49 and it has two types of upholstery, volta cloth and corduroy. I'm not sure if a 47 is the same or not. I bought the Volta cloth from the manufacturing club and am having a hard time with finding the corduroy material in the right color and pattern.  SMS did not have it in stock and said they could make it for $90 per yard with a 3 month lead time. I found a chineese group that would also make it but they don't do small orders.  Their min is 80 meters.

I have not done mine over yet but the guy doing the work estimated 5 yards for each type of material to do the seats and door panels. I bought 7.5 yards of the Volta cloth just to be safe.  I'll let you know how mine turns out when it is done.
