So that's where it went! The last time I saw that car it was in northeast Pennsylvania...

This car was featured in the October 1993 Collectible Automobile.  Still waiting on a decision from the guy to sell it to me.

That's the one, you can tell by the dents in the rear quarter and strip as well as the horizontal bumper "rods".

The information I gathered over the years suggested this car was built in December 1948 (as a 1949 model year car) and shipped to the distributor in Washington DC.  It was used by members of the Truman Inaugural Committee but was not an actual parade car.  It was built to the aborted Custom Virginian trim package.  The car was acquired by Ronco Motors in Bangor PA.  It could be possible to have been re-tagged as a 1950 model year car if it was still in dealer hands as unsold and untitled on November 4, 1949.

VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION   Where did the posted info come from?  It appears to be a mix from the door post serial number tag, part of the top line from the firewall body tag and ?????????????.    The SPEC-FO number on the lower line of the Body Tag along with the ITEM and SCHED numbers are needed.  A picture of the firewall tag would be best.   A 1952 Kaiser Manhattan that surfaced in England had a similar situation and it turned out that someone had combined information from several sources and the new owner didn't know about this.

If you are a member of the KFOCI you should have received the KFOCI HANDBOOK information on CD (Version 5.0 is the current version.  You may want to look at the items concerning reading body and door post serial number tags.

I have only seen the car once and the serial number is from the driver's side post; the info that I posted on this forum came from the online registry relating to the serial number.  Before (if) the sale goes through I can provide any information that you require.  I will be checking further if I can get another visit.

If I can source this Virginian or a 55 Manhattan, it is my intention to join KFOCI.

Do you know Ian Dickason down there?  He has several KF products; super nice guy.  He has a 53 Manhattan that I used to own.

Ditchy has pointed out the major flaw that has dogged the club registry right from the start.  People who supply incomplete information on their cars do not allow for a good historical "picture" of the vehicles.  Postings should include

Door post serial number
body serial number
SCHED and ITEM numbers
SPEC-FO number if applicable
Paint/Trim numbers
all the numbers on the firewall body tag & the header they are under (top row) or above (lower row).
Any other special tags on the vehicle (primarily the export cars who have tags from the overseas assembly plants or selling distributor)
Status (parts car, junked, restored, original, etc)

This car is not for sale, but if I can get the details from the plates, I will advise so that the register can be updated.
