postive ground

This HJ has been around a bit.  But what a beautiful example of a HJ.
in 1996 the car was owned by Buzz Logan of Walla Walla, WA and then he sold it to Doug Eilers (Damsguy) who sold it to Lloyd Marrs until he passed and yesterday his widow Nancy sold this beauty to my chief mechanic ... Don Chamberlain.  Today it rolled over to 40,000 miles.

Don, does your radio work with the negative ground?

The 53 J I am working on had a   Delco  type regulator(no brand showing)  ,but it was marked positive or negative ground. It has a 6 volt positive ground alternator now with a Optima battery.
 The alternator keeps the battery at full charge all the time and the Optima charge does not wear down over long periods of inactivity. This is the second time I have done this and have absolutely no negatives.

If the radio has an original type vibrator, not a solid state replacement, the radio will work fine on negative or positive ground.  Although if you do switch it, the songs may play backwards!

Does the key need to be in the on position when you use the jumper wire at the voltage regulator?

 Fid I need clarification on this. You mean if I play a country song on the wrong polarity the guys wife comes back,his hound dog is resurrected, and his pickup is back on the road?
