Kaisers in Auction - Peoria, IL
« on: September 17, 2014, 08:29:52 PM »
I ran across this auction scheduled for Sept 27.

http://www.auctionzip.com/cgi-bin/auctionview.cgi?lid=2178813&kwd=kaiser&zip=44026&category=0

There are several Kaisers, Henry Js and a nice Wagoneer in the sale.

This J is interesting:

It appears to be a '52/'53 with bright work around the window, yet this shot shows what appears to be the same car and it has no trunk lid.

The flat rear bumper indicates it would be a '51 or '52 but bright work around the window indicates it is a deluxe with no trunk lid.

I thought I read that regarding the '53 Js, only the 4 cylinder model was available without a trunk lid. Maybe that's not true of the '52 Corsair / Corsair Deluxe models.
There is no script, or holes where the script was on the front fender so it could be a '51 which someone installed a '52 front gravel pan and tail lights on. Also, I believe the '52 would have the voltage regulator mounted above the drip lip on the firewall like the '53 since both were Delco equipped.  This one does not so it could be a '51 with some upgrades. I've seen that more than a few times. The ad list them all as "'54 Henry J" but says there are no titles for them so my bet is they are not '54 Henry Js. One is certainly a '51.

Based on the hood ornament, this one is a '52

and it has factory opening rear vent windows.

This fellow had some Packards so again we see an orphan car guy, and he is 93 years old!

Does anyone know of this fellow?  I always am in disbelief that either nice restored cars on CL or ebay or these several car owners aren't known to the KF community?  I always thought: offer to the passionate crowd and club members first, was like a secret handshake uner the table kind of thing, but I guess not.

I would not mind proxibidding on the 52 or 53 Manhattans.

I wish they were closer to home...the Js interest me.

I will be checking out the Dayton 54 from another post on my way to/from Jackson next week. I'm not a buyer but will offer my opinion to anyone who may be.

That black HJ interests me... mainly because I could use that sunvisor. And I wouldn't mind the opening rear vent windows and the continental kit.  But mostly I just want the sunvisor!  ;D

Drove to North Pekin, Il today to look at the auction cars. About 30 miles from my home.
Lots of rust holes, and broken or missing parts.
Buildings were locked so I couldn't see the parts.

Looks like they did some mixing and matching on those Js!  This one is a '51 but has a '53 rear bumper

Likely did the same on some other cars as well.

This '53/'54 is pretty well gone but it looks  like the dinosaur grained package shelf behind the rear seat is intact. If someone gets this, I need that piece so if this one is intact (if it's stained that's OK) carefully remove it and let's talk

That black Corsair Delux has rear wing vent windows. I sure would like to own those.

You and several others would like them. I'm  not interested in  them but I will say they are probably the most rare Henry J option there is and likely worth the price the whole car!
