Had to leave early but enjoyed meeting Jim and the Dixie/Midwest gang. Got a couple of great interviews for the documentary (but still need to catch up with Muriel). Drove the '51 back from Shiloh at 70MPH (for the first time) to get some rolling shots of an incredible blue Frazer convertible. Hit the road back to Springfield and decided to be brave and take the interstate. 50 miles later the '51 had had enough- oil pressure started dropping and temp started rising. Stopped at a gas station and put in two quarts of oil (!) never had to add it before. Pulled away from the station with temp gauge pegged out, the car barely running. Proceeded down a country road not having a clue if it was the right direction. Car gradually cooled down and started running right again (though a bit noiser- wondering if I may have cracked the exhaust manifold). Drove home down the longest, darkest road with the sharpest curves ever, with the GPS constantly telling me to turn left on a two rut dirt road, and ignoring it. But made it home intact and still running!
