I think the article is incorrect in stating that Dragons are the 2nd rarest KF.  It said behind the Darrin.

But other than that it is always nice to get some good articles on KF

When I get Time I will try to list more. Anyone, make a list of Rare Vehicles across all Our Club Product. Below I started.

If Everyone would read The Last Onslaught on Detroit by Club Member Richard Langworth You would be on Your way to Finding the Rare Ones.
He started The Dragon List along with another Club Member. Now We have a List on each Product.

I have found One Rare Dragon for Me , Our Family’s Dragon. Most of Our Members know the Story. In 78 I started looking & found it in 7 Mo. after not knowing it’s whereabouts for 15 Years. Club Members did not want to sell. I said no problem I have a chance to by a Twin.

Our Wonderful Club Members was How I did this. Remember I was looking for One. It helped it was an All Vinyl Dragon only 25 or so made. This Color Combination has a White Poplin Top.
I got to speak & Thank Our Club Members at the 1989 National in Long Beach, Calif.

One I always think of is the Front wheel Drive Kaiser, & Others of One offs. 48 Kaiser Pinconning Special {conference car}in Reno Nevada. 47-48 Kaiser Custom The Sun Goddess. The 4 Door Convertibles in All Our makes. This got all Our makes a square- X fram.

Remember if You’re only looking for One Vehicle matcing Numbers including Vin. its a Rare One for You

I am certainly not saying that the Dragons are not perhaps the most important or collectible KF.  It is in the top 5 for sure and any position in that list is subjective.

I was thinking about the convertibles of which only about 150 were made?

The Virginian and Frazer Hardtop - 935.  Dragons - 1277.  Darrins - 435?

I don't think low budget entry cars with low production should count toward the "rare and desirable".  Owning a KF from this era - all are collectible and interesting - but the above numbers for what most of us believe to be the most collectible prestige cars of KF is actual.

Could they have made even more Dragons?  1953 was a lull year, strong production from the majors but not yet the price war era of 1954.  Korean War was still going on, but was in the managed stage, not stressing the economy and supply chain as much as 51-52.   ALL of the manufacturers, major or (now) orphans came out with special cars, signifying optimism toward the future.

Hudson - Packard - Buick, Cadillac - Oldsmobile, the Dragon, etc.   I am sure there is a record indicating demand, non demand for Dragons that would tell the story of whether they could make more.

From reading the historical books on KF, Last Onslaught and Built to Better the Best - I always got the impression that the Kaisers gave up on cars by March or April 1953 anyway.
No old cars owned.

They may be considering the hardtops and convertibles as a body style and not a model.  I'm sure this statement could bring up a lot of factors.  Great to see our cars in the magazines.
