K.F. neon sign

There is a beautiful 5' K.F. neon sign being offered on eBay for $8,500 opening bid.  Not many of the lighted large signs have survived.  It sure would look nice in my garage!

I think that  I would really rather have a real Kaiser for the same price.  I once bought a cast iron Lincoln Zephyr toy for $400 which was $50 dollars more than I had paid for a real Zephyr a few years before.  It would be nice to have that much money to play with though!

The Zephyr  12 cylinder distributor  would bolt up to the 48 and earlier Ford and Merc. engines and had a much larger  coil. The guts could be swapped for 8 cyl. use. No zephyr 12 cyl. engine was ever junked with out the distributor finding a new home.
I also remember something about the transmission or it's gears that appealed to the hop up folks.

They used that transmission from 1936 thru 1948 with the same gears and the Zephyr gears  had a taller first gear and they were very popular with the hot rodder's and the gears would interchange with the Ford V-8.  I used to wind out my 1939 Ford in high school and could get 72 miles per hour in second gear.  No telling how fast it would have gone with a Columbia rear end!
