Starter

You guys may get tired of me asking so many questions, But now I need to find out where I can get a starter. I have a Delco Remy 1107131. My Henry J is a 1953 Corsair Deluxe with a 6 cyl. I tried NAPA and all of the local parts stores and no one seems to know where to get one. I appreciate your help. Thanks Kyle Shaw

If you just have one that needs to be rebuilt, you may try A & B Auto Electric in Burnsville, MN. They've done them for me.

Tex's prices are always a bit high in my opinion but he may have one.
The challenge you have is that it is a '53 Henry J which used the Delco-Remy starter whereas the '51-'52 Js had Autolite which is pretty easy to find. In my opinion, the Delco is better but also a little more difficult find.

There are still shops around that can rebuild about any starter. Look for one in your area before sending it cross country I would suggest.

Thanks Guys. I do plan to get the starter rebuilt because it is the original. I did go out to my barn lot and pulled the delco remy 1107109 off of my 52 chevy car with a 6 cyl. This starter is in good operating condition. Will I have any problems with it on the Henry J?

According to the 1955 issue or Motor's Auto Repair, the specs (brush torque, amps, rpm etc.) are all exactly the same. The difference maybe something like the number of teeth on the drive gear or something like that but it so sounds like you could easily remove parts from the bad one and put them on the good one if you have to.  If it bolts up, it should work as all electrical ratings are the same.
