That hole is for the rear end vent or to bolt the brake hose on.

A 41/10 ratio was used on the Henry J 6 cylinder without overdrive. I don't know if it was used with any other KF cars as I don't have all the parts books and shop manuals. If it is HJ it will be noticeably small - the Kaiser units were much larger.
