1st '53 Dragon built? - for sale
« on: June 23, 2015, 05:40:57 PM »
It's here in Minneapolis too.  It has '51 Kaiser wheel covers.  I may go for a look

If the serial number range starts with Serial Number Range – K530-001001 then I question if this one is the first one. The number listed does not match this schema as most dealer/seller numbers don't.

It is interesting that's for sure.

It is certainly a nice straight original looking car.  I wonder who the Kaiser Frazer expert is?  It looks like he did a lot of work on the car to get it running.

Groan.  Basically a person (or business in this case) doesn't even write an ad without the now obligatory veriage of "Barn Find".  STOP!

As for the hyperbole of 1st Dragon built why would you not include a photo - money shot - of the data plate.

OK, Looking at the Dragon List looks like they did this Color combination a lot in a row. This happened a lot & by popularity of Color Combinations.
Hope a K.F.Member gets it or a New Member joins. It needs to be added to the Dragon list.
K530-002001 also was same Color combination & 2-3 before on the assemble line on the list.

I don't know how this number makes it # 1 ordered or built ?  It is 3/4 down on the list. May of been first ordered buy that Dealer ?
The First 2 Dragons was the Black Dragons 001023 & 001024.  I wonder what happened to the First 22 ? Someone could start forum on this subject.

Our Club has found the 2 Black Dragons. One was for sale in Missouri in Our forum Auto's For Sale & other a long time Member that passed. Both has the rear window wiper on them.

Black Lacquer  Dragons showed waves in the metal , So only 2 found on the list so far & rare.

G.B.

I did not know that the Black Dragon in Missouri was so rare.  That was the over-priced one on a cars lot off I70?   That really scares me now because about 20 years ago I bought a couple of cars off that guy (Lance Auto Investments) and he was OLD then.  In fact that was his 2nd location and I just worry if he passes away those cars are lost because he prices them so high.  They would disappear into the Missouri woods...

Sometimes I hate caring, because we can't save them all.  It's like the 999/888 Dragon in Missouri.  The guy won't restore it so it sits there and further deteriorates.

The original colors for Dragons (there were just 3) included Onyx Black.  When the updated Confidential Bulletin came out in March 1953, Black was replaced by the Maroon Velvet color as seen on this car.  Serial numbers started at 1001 so a car with serial number 2000 would have been the 1,000th car out of 1,277 built.  If the color/trim is correct for the car it would have to be later production which is consistent with the serial number given.  Yes, a shot of the door post tag & the firewall tags would resolve a lot of potential questions.
