1953 Manhattan General Question
« on: November 13, 2009, 11:50:53 AM »
Hi All

I have the wiring harness out of the car presently and would like to turn the engine over.  The engine was rebuilt 15 years ago and has been sitting since.  I have removed the plugs and lubricated the cylinders with Marvel Mystrey Oil.  Is there a way I can jump directly to the starter to rotate the engine.  Ideas?

Thanks

Mark

Yes. You can attach the positive lead from the battery directly to a good ground on the engine and then just touch the negative lead from the battery to the post that sticks up from the starter. That should allow engine rotation without affecting the rest of the car...assuming there are no other wires attached.
You can do this with good jumper cables. I've used this method and it works.
