Starter Identification

I've recently acquired a rebuilt starter that is supposed to be off of a '54 Kaiser. Problem is, I don't know if it came off of a Hydramatic engine or a manual trans. engine. I've heard that there is a difference. How can I tell what I have here? It is a Delco unit. Model #1107125 Serial#2J23. I know how to decode the build date from the serial number which tells me this starter was built in 1952. Doesn't seem likely that it's really from a '54 in that case, but anyway, where can I find a correlation between the Kaiser part numbers and the Delco model number?

Your starter fits standard shift cars. 1107126 is the hydramatic unit.

K-F service bulletin #245 spells out difference in the physical dimensions between the auto trans starter and the std trans starter.

Thanks guys. Very helpful info. So do those two Delco model numbers hold true through the entire run of KF 226 engines? 1107126 for Hydramatics and 1107125 for standard trans.?

My Motors manual lists 1107087 as the standard trans unit for 1951-52 Kaisers and 1107088 for the same years for the hydramatic equipped cars. The later units were equipped with a follow thru Bendix that kept the starter engaged longer. The earlier units would kick out too soon, usually before the engine started.
