1951-55 Kaiser trunk material
« on: February 22, 2016, 08:04:11 AM »
Any idea what material was used to line the trunk floor on the 51-55 Kaisers? Was it a type of oilcloth?

Each Year & Trim was different. Tell what Year Color & Trim code
Then a Member could help.
Research on All Vinyl Dragons & Dragon List.

I have a 1954 Manhattan that I am attempting to restore.
Paint # 239.     Trim # 5324
According to the KFOCI Handbook 5.0 paint code #239= Raven Black.
According to the appendix in Richard Langworth's Last Onslaught On Detroit trim code#5324 = Gray Boucle and black LaMar.
Both of these are apparently accurate as when I acquired the car it was painted black(someone had painted the top white), and the interior was black vinyl with gray fabrics .
All of this knowledge has not provided me with a knowledge of the material used in the trunk.
The remanents of trunk material appear to be some sort of fabric with a covering to make it more durable than plain fabric, it doesn't appear to be vinyl or carpet.
My limited knowledge of various fabrics makes me think of "oil cloth"?
Any help learning what type material was used for my 54 Manhattan trunk is greatly appreciated.
