A point of intrest
« on: May 06, 2016, 08:03:22 AM »
As there is no way of my every owning or possibly even seeing a Darrin in person, I was wondering if they were made of solid fiberglass or did they have a backing of some sort? The question came to mind while I was mounting fog lights on my 54 Manhattan, while drilling holes into the front bumper skirt(?) I noticed it was made from some weird material, like fiberglass but it had what appeared to be a thin metal backing.

Darrin bodies are all fiberglass with metal reinforcements added where needed in places like body mounts.

The front splash pan on your 54K should be steel. If it's anything else, then a repair was made to it at some time in the past.
