DELCO VS AUTOLITE GENERATORS

What is the main differences except the spelling of the manufacturer?

Delco is General Motors and Autolite is part of Ford Motor Co.

let's state it this way..

what are the differences in their guts that require an Autolite voltage regulator to be used with an Autolite generator and the same for Delco combinations?
