Dicks Classic Car Museum
« on: July 25, 2016, 04:05:48 PM »
On my way home from the Nationals, I stopped in to see Dicks Classic Car Museum, located near San Antonio, Texas (among others during my trip).   I know it was a round about way to get home from Springfield, IL but I had to go to Pasadena, TX first.   He had a 1951 Deluxe Golden Dragon, donated by Curtis Foster.

There were many 50's cars there along with a Tucker, quite a nice museum if you go by there any time.

Nice car! I like those '51 Dragons.  This one, however, is not a Golden Dragon.  A Golden Dragon by definition is Pasadena yellow in color with a black vinyl top.  This is an Emerald Dragon, and a very nice one indeed.

I could go check but did KF make those color combinations exclusive to the 51 Dragon line?  That Emerald Dragon is a nice color combination as would a Golden Dragon be, and I don't think I have seen them before in other 51's I have seen.
No old cars owned.

There was a '51 Golden Dragon which sold here in MN around 2007. Beautiful car. There was one for sale on the internet (New Jersey Craig's list) not too long ago. The price was $25,000 and it was a beauty - Pasadena yellow with a black vinyl top. If you've ever seen the movie Steel Town from 1952, John Lund drives a Golden Dragon in the movie.  I really like that combination.  There were 3 series of Dragon in '51, I'd  have to pull my handbook out and check it again to see the differences but in my opinion, the Golden Dragon was the classiest.
One mistake people often make is to refer to the '53 Dragon models as Golden Dragon, due to the gold plated trim but they  were simply Dragons.
