New to Kaiser and the Forum
« on: January 17, 2017, 03:52:38 PM »
Acquired a 48.  The plate says the Model # is 481, trim 122.  The car has a hood ornament and a hood center spear, cloth seats, day-night mirror and 4 bumper guards on the front.  I suspect I have the standard model with some add ons.  Any help would be appreciated.

Also what is the deal with the one and two dot taillights?  Mine has the one dots and one lens is in crumbles so was looking around on internet and found that there are two dot lenses.  If two dots are somehow related to a turn signal I would think they would be rare.  Again any help for a new-be is appreciated.

Hello and welcome to our website.  You will find answers to most of your Kaiser Frazer related questions here and also have contact with members who have a car just like yours.  Hopefully you will Join the Kaiser Frazer Owners Club also as they have a great monthly publication and you will find many wonderful percs in your new members package.  In answer to your questions Kaisers did not have turn signals optional until 1949 so your tail light lens is correct in having one dot. Frazers had turn signals on most of their production.  Hood ornaments were not available for Kaisers or Frazers either until 1949 but several makers designed hood ornaments and they were sold at parts stores or through mail order.  Four bumper guards are correct for all of the Kaisers and Frazers except for the very earliest cars made in 1946.  If you can post a picture of your car we would all enjoy seeing it and when you join the club you will have access to our roster which will list members who live close to you.  Enjoy your new find!

Is this a Kaiser Custom.  It would have Custom scrip on both front fenders .

Thank you for the welcomes.  I could not find evidence of fender script - how was this attached?

Hello and welcome to the forum! Feel free to post your questions and we'll do our best to answer them. Post a picture of your car too.

By the way, your car is a Special and not a Custom. The model number 481 was used to denote the Special model.

Again, welcome!
