Title: Interesting Custom

This car is billed as the Harden-Hawk and was based on a 51 Deluxe. It was powered by a Cadillac engine and the picture was taken in 1954 at the Daytona Speed Week sports car trials. The builder was Harold Harden. The Nash grille looks like it belongs on the car! The Ford hood scoop can go in my opinion.

Your thoughts?

If it has a supercharger the scoop makes sense. But I agree the one on the car is a bit much :)

What year/model Ford would that scoop come from? Too tall for a T-bird, plus too early.

But I agree, the scoop takes away from the looks of the car.

I'm going to have to go with the scoop, not because I would want it but because he detailed it in so nicely as well as the rest of the car. I like his custom badging too.

This posting has particular interest to me as Harold Harden was my Dad's cousin in Florida. I remember as a youngster going to Harold's house on the St. John's River just outside Palatka, Florida. It wasn't until many years later after my wife and I bought the '54 Kaiser Manhattan that my older brother mentioned Harold had a Kaiser.
Thanks for posting this as I never saw the Kaiser and my brother didn't recall it exactly or have any pictures. This was back in the 1950s, "maybe" very early 1960s.
I would be interested to know how you came about the picture. Thanks for sharing!
