Title: What is supposed to be here?

Disassembling dash on our 1954 Kaiser Manhattan and we found this attached to the e-brake handle.  What's supposed to be here?  Clearly something is missing, checked our 52/53 cars and they don't have this.  Any suggestions?

I had a 53 with an under dash warning light that told you when the emergency brake was applied. The pictured item looks like the switch mount that was on my car.

Thanks Jim.  Looking under the dash for wiring to this area and we found none.  Must have been what you suggested and then through the years it was removed.
