Title: Pink Kaisers
Post by: joefrazer on July 02, 2017, 07:21:36 AM
As most of us know, Henry Kaiser's second wife, Ale, loved the color pink. It was a special hue that came out of a mistake made when dyeing material for use at Henry's hotel in Honolulu. Ale liked trucks and liked to drive them so Henry had an FC170 assembled for her, painted that same pink. Here's a link to more about that.

Interesting article ... but Kaisers love for pink goes back further than that.

He even painted his Oakland Concrete Trucks Pink in the 1950s.

I remember seeing the Kaiser concrete trucks in San Francisco in the early 1970s.  They were pink and they had HJK's saying "Find a need and fill it" on the side of them.

When I was in Honolulu I spoke to a gent who worked for Kaiser many years before and he said the concrete truck drivers hated driving Kaisers units - because they were pink.
