Title: radiator and thermostat
Post by: checker on July 26, 2017, 05:10:45 PM
Guys, I need an advice from experienced folks like you.

My radiator started leaking, I removed it and getting it repaired by a specialized shop.
Got new rad hoses too.

I was wondering if I should take the opportunity to change the thermostat as well.
The car war not overheating and there are no leaks from the thermostat housing.

It's just that everything I touch on the car, shows age and wear...so, what would you do ?

Thermostats do not cost very much but can cause major problems when they fail.  Good insurance would be to change the thermostat and flush the system and then you should be trouble free cooling wise for a long time.  Have your radiator man check your radiator cap and belt also as they are inexpensive parts of the cooling system.

While waiting for the rad to be redone, already bought new hoses, belt and cap.

What would be the part number for the thermostat ? does it come with the gasket ?

Got all the hardware except for the Rad.

The Rad repair shop is asking me if I want my radiator in gloss, satin or flat black, how was it originally ?
