Does anyone know where to find a water outlet elbow for a 6 cylinder? I would also like to order the radiator inlet and outlet hoses.
Edit: At least I think it's the outlet elbow. I attached a picture of what I'm looking for.

I found one.

Good for you. That can be a tough part to find as they corrode away so easily. Especially back in the "old days" before antifreeze.

Lowell:
Did the parts list of HJ parts that we assembled include NAPA numbers for upper and lower radiator hoses?
-
The lower hose for the six cylinder is NAPA NBH 7274.
The one I was told that works for the upper is NAPA NBH 7299 -
I was not able to make that one work so I returned it. I found out later it needs to be cut but if you don't have a factory photo of how it's suppose to look, it may be difficult to figure out how to cut it properly.
Now, the good news is, NAPA NBH 7274, which works for the lower hose, also works for the upper as well, it just won't look exactly like the factory photos.
I'd also caution that you get the 7274 from NAPA only. I had O'Reilly cross it to their number when I needed one a couple of years ago and their's is about 1" shorter and won't work on the top. It may still work on the bottom.

Great info, thank you for sharing.
Is there a part number for the gasket?

I don't have a part number for it. They're very easy to make if need be.
One thing you'll need if you plan to use a thermostat (which is highly recommended) is the retainer which holds it in place.
If you need one, you can get them at www.kaiserwillys.com

Thanks, Fid. I'll pick up one of those thermostat housing retainers. If that fits the Henry J 6 cylinder then should their thermostat and gasket fit as well? Should a 160 or 180 degree be used?

The gasket for sure because that mates to the head which is the same on Jeeps as HJ. I'm not sure on the thermostat housing but I think it is too. Based on the pics I've seen of the thermostat itself, I'd say it is the same too.

Thanks again, Fid. I ordered the thermostat, housing and gasket.

This is an update to the upper and lower radiator hoses from NAPA. 7229 worked for the upper hose with a little trimming but I wasn't able to get 7274 to work for the lower no matter how hard I tried. The bends were too tight and flattened the hose way more than I was comfortable with. I'm thinking of trying 7229 for the lower as well.

Looks like there are different thermostat housings used on the 161. This is a Willys 161, appears to be the same engine as the Henry J but the head, starter and thermostat housing are definitely different.

This is what's on both of my F-Heads...the differences are interesting....

Are your F-heads 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder?
The pictures look like those you find on the four cylinder. The L-head four and six are different.

Both of mine are 161s

Interesting. I never studied the 161 F-head. Looks like there's a difference in the thermostat housings.
