Title: Looking for antenna
Post by: mbflemingkf on April 29, 2010, 12:08:17 PM
I'm looking for a new antenna for a member in Spain thats as close a match as possible (extendable) to the one used on the later Kaisers (53-55).  Anyone have a suggestion or place they can send me?  Thanks.

Mike,

If he can not find a good original here is a listing on eBay for a possible 'close a match possible' candidate.

Thanks, Mark.  I found a reference to NAPA #7304874 on Richard Hansen's KF Crossover list so ordered it today.  It's suppossed to be a 3 part expandable so we'll see what comes.  It was cheap enough at $8.19 plus special order shipping of about $8.  Should be in the end of next week.  It may not be of sufficient quality but will get him going and he can always upgrade later.

Most any antenna will work on a Kaiser, however, if you want them to look period correct, you'll want one with an extendable mast. Also, KF used an antenna with a long extension that sat inside the fender that also had a strap that tied the unit to the fender at the bottom. Without this, most inexpensive aftermarket units tend to slip on the Kaiser's curved fender and won't stay upright.

The Pontiac antenna is the closest match I've seen in a long time. The 90 bucks seems steep but is cheap compared to the $250 that the last NOS KF antenna fetched on ebay.

Surprisingly very good.  I don't see how they can manufacture and package it for that price.  It's on its way to Spain.  It actually looked very close to the original one on my 54 (above the fender line at least).
